ABOUT WAMDS

ABOUT WAMDS

WAMDS were founded in 1963 to provide amateur theatre activities in the Lancashire village of Whitworth near Rochdale. In the subsequent 53 years, the society has established a youth theatre section, opened a rehearsal, workshop and performance space and produced over 100 stage musicals in the area. In 2016 the society moved to St Johns Church Hall in Facit, Whitworth where it is restoring and upgrading the building ready for performance and community use. The Society has a proud tradition of staging challenging and modern musical theatre, whilst at the same time being as inclusive as possible to people from all walks of life.
